Not to toot my own horn, but this dip is really phenomenal. It has the same yummy, onion-y flavor that an original onion dip has but with a way better, dipable texture!
It’s made with my Homemade Almond Sour Cream and the perfect herbs and spices to make you reminisce of a traditional french onion dip. Unlike a tradition onion dip, this version is so much healthier for you. It even has a bunch of protein thanks to the almonds!
Enjoy everyone! If you try it out, I’d love to hear about it! Drop a comment below, rate the recipe and find me on Instagram and Facebook!
French Onion Dip (V/GF)
Creamy, rich-flavored vegan French Onion Dip that has the same yummy, onion-packed flavor that an original onion dip has but with a way better, dipable texture!
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw blanched almonds soaked for at least 4 hours
- 1 green onion chopped (including the white part)
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp fresh chives , finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp himalayan salt
- 3 tbsp dried onion flakes
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp celery seed powder
- 1/8 tsp smoked paprika
Instructions
-
Soak the almonds in filtered water at room temperature for at least 4 hours.
-
Drain almonds and if they are almonds with the skin on, gently pressing the nut causing the skin to slip off. Discard the skin.
-
In a food processor, add almonds, green onion, water, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, salt and process until smooth. This will take several minutes. You want the consistency to be somewhat runny.
-
Transfer almond sour cream to a bowl and then add the remaining ingredients. Stir until fully combined.
-
Allow to chill in fridge for an hour to let the flavors marry.
-
Garnish with extra chives and ENJOY!! Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
