French Onion Dip (V/GF)

Not to toot my own horn, but this dip is really phenomenal. It has the same yummy, onion-y flavor that an original onion dip has but with a way better, dipable texture!

It’s made with my Homemade Almond Sour Cream and the perfect herbs and spices to make you reminisce of a traditional french onion dip. Unlike a tradition onion dip, this version is so much healthier for you. It even has a bunch of protein thanks to the almonds!

Enjoy everyone! If you try it out, I’d love to hear about it! Drop a comment below, rate the recipe and find me on Instagram and Facebook!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw blanched almonds soaked for at least 4 hours
  • 1 green onion chopped (including the white part)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives , finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp himalayan salt
  • 3 tbsp dried onion flakes
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp celery seed powder
  • 1/8 tsp smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Soak the almonds in filtered water at room temperature for at least 4 hours.

  2. Drain almonds and if they are almonds with the skin on, gently pressing the nut causing the skin to slip off. Discard the skin.

  3. In a food processor, add almonds, green onion, water, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, salt and process until smooth. This will take several minutes. You want the consistency to be somewhat runny.

  4. Transfer almond sour cream to a bowl and then add the remaining ingredients. Stir until fully combined.

  5. Allow to chill in fridge for an hour to let the flavors marry.

  6. Garnish with extra chives and ENJOY!!  Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
